Texting in Social Situations.
I must admit that I am an avid texter. Texting is a good way to communicate with people who might be miles away for you with only the use of just your fingers. It is also a good way to communicate with someone where a face-to-face conversation is not possible.
I think texting during social situations is okay as long as there is no body talking to you. If you were just sitting down and doing nothing, I think it is acceptable to text. It also makes you look like you're not a loner.
Although I thoroughly enjoy texting, I think there are certain limits to it, there are times when texting is not appropriate. I wouldn't approve of texting while someone is having a conversation with you, I find it incredibly rude and irritating when people do it. You should be having fun with your friends! Not spending the whole night staring at your phone and working your thumbs. I wouldn't like it if someone was continuously texting while I was trying to converse with them. Its rude and you shouldn't feel the need to text unless it is absolutely necessary.
If I had to give some texting etiquettes it would be:
1. Try to text back as soon as possible when you get a text. No one likes to get ignored.
2. Don't text when someone is trying to talk to you.
3. Don't ever bully anyone through texting.
4. Don't ever text while driving or crossing the road.
5. Refrain from texting during a movie.
