To Share or Not to Share??

I think that file sharing is completely fine. Some people consider file sharing as theft, but I disagree with them. Theft is when you take the product and original is gone. While file sharing is just copying the file. The original is still there. I do not think it is wrong and it does not harm anybody. I don't have a problem with file sharing unless someone is making a profit from it.

I would still hold the same opinion even if I produced my own music. Although I lose money, it is getting my music out there and that is what I would want. If someone really loved music, and making it, they shouldn't care about the money as long as their music is becoming more popular.

I think it is acceptable to download copyrighted material if it is only intended for personal use. As I said before, as long as someone is not making a profit from it, I think it is okay.

  1. You have a very interesting opinion on file sharing. I think you clearly showed why you think file sharing should be legal. I agree on your point that if someone really loves making music, then they should not care about the money. That is so true because today almost everybody is just worried about money and how much they earn and make. But it is impossible to wish that everyone would just stop caring about money. I really like the way you stated your points as to why file sharing should be legal, and its exceptions.

  2. I don't think file sharing is wrong either. No one really makes a profit off downloading free songs, and the artists themselves still have their money and their music heard. I liked your opinion on how money shouldn't be the centre of everything, and that when producing your own music that its the music you should care about, not the money you make from it.

  3. Wow! You have a very strong opinion on this controversial topic. I think that the most interesting point you make is that it's not really theft, because the original is still there. I think that's definitely a big reason that people don't think file-sharing is the same as robbery.
